The first full fledged computer I purchased myself, circa 1987, was a Franklin PC-8000. It boasted 512K ram, 2 360K floppy disk drives and a “Color Graphics Card” with RGB, composite color and composite monochrome. It ran MS-DOS 3.1 and came with Lotus 123. It didn’t have a modem or any method of outside communications but goodness did I spend a lot of time on that machine. I purchased it at Sears, at a cost of right around $1000. At that time, it was the most money I had ever spent on a single purchase.
